The situation
A fresh-food business needs sales, production, procurement and distribution decisions to work together. Technology becomes useful when it connects those decisions and the people responsible for them.
My contribution
- As CTO, I connected technology priorities with forecasting, production, procurement and operating decisions.
- My responsibilities included people systems, with CHRO responsibilities during part of my tenure.
- I brought technology and cross-functional leadership together in the context of a growing food business.
Deliverables and scope
This experience informs my advisory work on the operating model behind FMCG growth. It is an account of my leadership role as an employee, rather than a B4 client case study.
Practical implication
The central management question was how teams could use shared information to make timely operating decisions.
